Air Jordan 3 Celebrates Nike Designer Tinker Hatfield

Jordan Brand is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 3 and the birthday of one of footwear's most iconic designers "Tinker Hatfield." The legend of Tinker Hatfield and the Air Jordan 3 has long been told throughout countless generations by sneaker & basketball enthusiast around the world. The legacy of the Nike, Jordan partnership was cemented by a young Tinker whom was a former student of Bill Bowerman. Bowerman was his track & field coach and co-founder of Nike, Inc. Over his career, he trained 31 Olympic athletes, 51 All-Americans, 12 American record-holders, 22 NCAA champions and 16 sub-4 minute milers.

A young "Tinker" was known for pushing the boundaries of sneaker design very early on introducing the Jumpman, the iconic elephant print and the 5/8th height of the shoe,  just a few notable concepts that changed the game. Tinker Hatfield’s original Air Jordan III sketch comes to life to celebrate 30 years of the iconic model. Now, the Air Jordan III 'Tinker' returns in honor of Hatfield's birthday today April 30th. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TINKER FROM THE SHOE CITY / YCMC FAMILY!
