Vans OTW Collection Feathers Pack for Spring 2013

The feather carries a symbolic meaning across many different cultures. For some, it stands as a symbol of good fortune – in Native American culture, the feather is a symbol of honor and strength. This spring, the Vans OTW Collection channels these sentiments into a capsule of apparel and footwear for the Feathers pack. Custom feather embroidery adorns three silhouettes; the Lasdun, Ludlow and Howell exhibit the pattern on each set of canvas quarter panels. Tonal pig suede detailing, waxed laces, metal eyelet and laser-etched tongue branding completes the selection of sneakers. Additional usage of the custom embroidered motif can be seen throughout the Myers short and Eldridge 5-Panel. The Flock tee rounds off the apparel assortment with screen printed feather graphics pressed against the lightweight cotton top. The Feathers pack ships this March to select retailers as the final spring offering from the Vans OTW Collection. Meet Eric Jordan @ejordanill, an editorial illustrator for Complex Magazine @ComplexMag and a street-wear designer for his own brand One Degree @theonedegree. Prior to his own venture, EJordanill as he calls himself has completed several designs for both Rocksmith @Rocksmith and WuTang Brand Limited @wuwear. A true hip hop fan, his appreciation of the art form can be seen in his wearable art tees and portraits that include images of visionaries like Biggie Smalls and Jay-Z @S_C_, as well as style icons Kanye West @kanyewest, and Marylin Monroe. If you look through the history of the PMK custom brand you will see that time and time again they have surprised the fashion audience with hybrid ideas and meticulously detailed re-creations of the world's favorite designer footwear brands.         Continuing this custom in 2013, PMK starts the year off with another world first, taking the Isabel Marant sneaker wedge to the cobbling block to create a one-of-a-kind design for R&B Royalty and POP sensation Beyonce Knowles-Carter @Beyonce. Summoned by King Bee and given the task to create a custom design worthy of her approval, PMK took the Isabel Marant sneaker wedge back to the beginning of time and gave it what they call the "Eden treatment" —a hybrid of land and sea skins were used to create this handcrafted creation. Stingray, Ostrich, calfs fur, Crocodile, and Anaconda give the already impeccable design attitude, while the tones of white mixed with gold stitched details produces a feeling of elegance, mimicking the southern belle's sweet and fierce persona. Perfectly made describes this design best.

World famous bicycle manufacturer BMC Switzerland and luxury vehicle brand Lamborghini have partnered up to create an incredibly designed and engineered cycling machine. This bicycle is in commemoration of Lamborghini's 50th Anniversary, the bike features high-end Italian components on the Swiss-made impec frame. The design and engineering behind this concept was developed with the same process of precision, detail and style used in the Lamborghini Aventador. The bike is limited to 50 pieces worldwide and will be manufactured on a made-to-order basis. Retail Price is set at an astounding $32,525 USD.

March 2013 heralds the arrival of chapter four in the ongoing successful collaboration between Vans and KENZO. In January 2012, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, Creative Directors of KENZO, visited Thailand with the purpose of trekking in the magnificent and awe-inducing Asian Jungle. Animals abound in this contained ecosystem that are unique to the world. Rare elephants, mischievous monkeys and a myriad of reptiles call it home, and most importantly it is here that the tiger is the king of the jungle.  Carol and Humberto came across what would propitiously end up being the main inspiration for the prints of their Spring-Summer 2013 collection for KENZO, The Clouded Leopard. So eye catching and alluring on the selected KENZO show garments, Carol and Humberto felt it the perfect fit for the newest edition to the Vans collaboration, and proposed six different, vibrant color-ways via this clouded leopard print in hues of ocre, orange, blue, green and khaki.
